Living up to the spirit of community development, ICL Hum Qadam volunteers contributed their time towards four focus areas, which include disability awareness, education, health and environment.
Speaking about the employee contribution, Vice President Corporate Affairs ICL Pakistan, Aamer Izhar Ul Haq said, “We are delighted to see our employees coming forward with the spirit of helping others and making this valuable contribution with their time. ICL Hum Qadam was launched with the vision to extend the benefits of community development through our employees and we are pleased to see that vision becoming a reality as more community involvement occurs within the ICL family. We will continue our efforts towards the community through volunteerism and hope that this spirit of sharing and helping others will continue through 2013.”
Some of the Hum Qadam volunteer activities where ICL Pakistan employees contributed their community hours include; the Wheel Chair Cricket Match and the World Disability Day Walk, which were arranged by implementing partner STEP to show solidarity towards persons with disabilities.
Other activities included interactive awareness sessions about disability issues carried out by Hum Qadam volunteers in Lahore, painting a Government School in Shahdra and arranging full day activities for the orphaned children at SOS Village Islamabad. Under environment, Hum Qadam volunteers in Islamabad conducted tree plantation initiatives and cleanup activities. A blood donation camp was arranged at ICL Pakistan’s Karachi office with the help of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) where Hum Qadam volunteers donated blood.
ICL Pakistan has been continuously working towards community development over the years and introduced ICL Hum Qadam in 2011 as a corporate responsibility initiative to engage and mobilize its employees in community service. Since the launch of the program, more than 50,000 paid work hours have been contributed towards community development under the employee volunteerism program.
